Ashok Lakshminarayan Menaria was born on October 29, 1990, in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India. He is a left-handed bowler and plays as an all-rounder.
He started playing for the Under-15s team in Rajasthan in the 2005-2006 season. In 2009, he was made the Captain of the Indian Under-19 Team which toured Australia. His leadership led the team to win the tournament against Australia by winning 2-1 in the One Day matches.
