Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel take on St Lucia Zouks in another league match at Beausejour Cricket Ground, the home ground for St Lucia Zouks on August 2.
Dwayne Bravo’s Red Steel have already secured top spot in the league table, registering five wins out of the six matches they played till now while Darren Sammy’s St Lucia Zouks are still struggling to open their account this season and are placed at the bottom of the table.
The last encounter between these two teams was played on July 27, where an all-round performance by the Red Steel helped them win the game with much ease. They chased down 137 in less than 15 overs.
Darren Sammy was the only batsman from Lucia Zouks, who did anything of note with the bat for his team. Other batsmen could failed to get going thanks to the wonderful bowling by Samuel Badree who kept the bowling tight and took two important wickets. Kevon Cooper and Dwayne Bravo chipped in with a reasonable showing as well.
Kevin O’Brien and Evin Lewis batted like there was nothing wrong with the pitch and made the chase look very easy. It looked like they would have chased down the target even if it was to 250 plus.
Both are looking in great form and could be dangerous for other teams in the league.
St. Lucia Zouks on the other hand are looking to gain momentum by registering their first win. It is important to get their players in striking form. The big question is whether they have the wherewithal to test the opposition or will they just roll over as they have done so far.
They will be playing for pride and that’s the one thing that skipper Darren Sammy will be looking to bring a lot out of his side.
However, with a terrific combination of bowling talent like Samuel Badree and batsmen like O’Brien and Lewis, there’s every chance that Red Steel will sweep this match with ease.
Trinidad & Tobago start favourite and should register another win here.
