Hong Kong and Nepal will clash on Sunday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
The game in the qualifying group stage for the ICC’s Twenty20 World Tournament, will probably present both sides with their best opportunity of recording a victory, with the other two nations in the group, being the hosts Bangladesh, and the up and coming Afghanistan.
The sides previously met in the quarter-final of the ICC World Twenty Qualifier in the UAE 2013 last November, when Nepal won a last-ball thriller, by 5 wickets when chasing 144 to win, having started the last over needing 13 runs to win.
Hong Kong managed to recover in time to beat Papua New Guinea by 29 runs, which clinched a qualifying position, giving them a first ever place at an ICC global event.
Hong Kong will be looking to big-hitting all-rounder Irfan Ahmed and Jamie Atkinson, to get them off to a punishing start at the top of the order.
Nepal’s strength will be in their spin department, with left-arm Basant Regmi in particular, being their chief weapon. At the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in the UAE 2013 he finished as their leading bowler with 14 wickets, as they eventually finished in third position, after beating the hosts by 5 wickets.
