The Rajasthan Royals may have won the first IPL. But they have decided not to stop at that. Instead, they are now getting into an alliance with the other domestic sides in the world to be able to promote the Royals brand! >
So, the Rajasthan side has been in talks with the likes of Hampshire, the English county, Trinidad and Tobago and Cape Cobras from South Africa to be able to associate the sides with the brand. From now on, the three sides will be called the Hampshire Royals, T&T Royals and so on.
This will also mean that there will be tournaments around the world through the year, between these sides. This will mean that the Royals brand would be in the cynosure of everyone’s eyes throughout the year, instead of only during the IPL as is the case now.
Manoj Badale, the co-owner of the Royals side that the concept is still in the early stages, and there have also been talks with the Victorian Bushrangers to be added to the group. In the end, they also want it to roll out to the other T20 centres like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
Shane Warne, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals said that he was excited by the initiative, and that he wished he was 20 years younger! However what could put a spanner in their plan could be the fact that the BCCI hasn’t been kept in the loop and for them to be able to use Indian cricketers, they would need the required permissions.
