Pakistan to play Australia in Under19 WC final

Australia and Pakistan will play against each other in the final of the Under-19 World Cup. The game will be played on 30th of January at Lincoln.

The first semi-final saw Pakistan beat West Indies in a thrilling encounter. The West Indian side had batted first and managed to score only 212/8 in their fifty overs. This was mainly thanks to Kraigg Brathwaite, who scored 85 while opening the innings. Shane Dowrich chipped in with a useful 55.

In reply, the Pakistani side lost three wickets early, but then had Mohammad Azam smash a 92 off 93 balls to guide the Pakistanis to a win. There were nine balls to spare when the side won the game.

In the other semi-final, Sri Lanka batted first against Australia and scored 205 all out. This was a major recovery from the 32/5 that they had found themselves in at one stage thanks mainly due to Akshu Fernando’s half century. Josh Hazlewood scalped a four wicket haul.

Australia looked good throughout their innings in reply, but kept losing wickets rather regularly. The captain Mitchell Marsh guided the side with a 97, and despite getting out at the wrong time, had done enough to win his side the game.
