Australia have clinched a 4-0 Ashes series victory over England after humiliating the tourists on the third day to complete a 146-run win in Hobart on Sunday.

Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his first-inning century in a low-scoring game, where Australia were bowled out for 155 on the third day.

But the hosts skittled England for 124 in 38.5 overs as the visitors collapsed, losing 10-56.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins finished as the series’ leading wicket with 3-42 while Scott Boland’s continued his rapid rise with 3-18.

But all-rounder Cameron Green (3-21) got the crucial three opening breakthrough wickets after England’s openers had threatened to chase down the target of 271.

England were 0-68 with Rory Burns and Zac Crawley looking settled, before the former was bowled by Green for 26.

Four overs later Green bowled Dawid Malan for 10, with Crawley out in the Western Australian’s next over caught behind by Alex Carey for 36.

From there it was a procession for the Aussies, as they claimed a 4-0 series victory, with Head named Player of the Series despite missing the fourth Test due to COVID-19.

“It is pretty crazy,” Cummins told reporters after the win. “As a professional cricketer, these are the series you have in your diary a couple of years out, so to come out with so many positives and winning 4-0, I am pumped.

“It feels like we are really building to something big. Now we want to show our wares overseas.”
