Fringe Australian Test pair Moises Henriques and Nic Maddinson have been named as joint winners of the 2019-20 Sheffield Shield Player of the Season award.
The duo both polled 16 votes for the gong as the Sheffield Shield concluded early with round to go and no final played due to the coronavirus outbreak, with runaway leaders New South Wales declared champions.
NSW veteran Henriques finished in the top 10 scorers for the Shield season with 512 runs at an average 51.2, including two centuries and one half-century. The all-rounder also took two wickets for the Blues.
Victorian batsman Maddinson, 28, was the leading scorer in this season’s Shield with 780 runs, including a top score of 224.
Maddinson, who has played three Tests for Australia, scored five half-centuries and two hundreds this season, averaging 86.66.
Emerging WA all-rounder Cameron Green, 20, finished as the runner-up with 13 votes after a breakthrough season with the bat.
Green, who has been touted as a future Australian Test player, was fourth on the run scoring charts with 699 runs including three centuries at 63.54.
WA’s Nicole Bolton won the Women’s National Cricket League Player of the Season award after her state clinched a breakthrough title.
Former Australia bowler Paul Wilson received the Cricket Australia Umpire Award.
