A total of only 18 players retained by franchises instead of 40. And more big players are left for auction to be sold.
Chennai had retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina. In an auction biggest bid goes to Kedar Jadhav (7.8 Crore) and some more key players are Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson, Harbhajan Singh, Faf Du Plessis, Imran Tahir etc.

Mumbai Indians had retained Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. Franchise bid 8.8 Crore for Krunal Pandya. Other players are K. Pollard, P. Cummins, M. Rehman, and Even Lewis.
Rajasthan Royals had retained only Steven Smith.Their home ground SMS Stadium Jaipur, also returning to IPL after 4 years. In an auction, they bid IPL 2018 highest 12.5 Crore for B. Strokes. Other big players are S. Samson, J. Butler, A Rahane and J. Unadkat.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had retained Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan. In an auction they bid highest for Chris Woakes (7.4 crore). Other players are Y. Chahal, B. McCullum, Q. De Kock, U. Yadav and N. Coulter Nile.
Sunrisers Hyderabad had retained only David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. In an auction highest 11 Crore bid for Manish Pandey. Other big players are S. Dhawan, K. Williamson, C. Braithwate, S. Al Hasan, Y Pathan and R. Khan.
Big players remain unsold in auction are Lasith Malinga, Dale Steyn, Ishant Sharma, Hashim Amla and Joe Root.
