A decision based on the referees call when a cut to the head was produced due to a collision, whether intentional or not. The referee decides if the cut was caused by a head butt or a punch.

The declaration of a win by technical decision is dependent on which round the fight is on. Some federations require the fight to be on a halfway mark, five round for a ten-round match while sixth round for a twelve-round match. But generally, most countries honor this decision on the fourth round mark onwards for a contender to be declared a winner. Otherwise, if a fight has to be stopped due to a head butt without reaching the required mark, it is automatically declared a technical draw.

Fights declared as a technical draw are equated as a “no contest”. The judges will then hand in their scorecards and whichever fighter leads ahead in points is considered victorious by technical decision.
