Mónica Núñez is a female Dominican boxer who was ranked as one of the top fighters in the Super Middleweight division in female boxing. Born on October 12, 1976, Núñez is well known in her home country mainly due to the fact that boxing is still considered as a male’s sport.
As a professional boxer, Núñez kicked off her career by winning against Claribel Ferreira in a fight that lasted three rounds and ended via knockout. The fight was held on June 9, 2000 at Santo Domingo, and after her initial fight, Núñez enjoyed three successive victories including a victory against Marylin Hernandez, who was previously undefeated.
After fighting against Diana Garcia, Núñez left the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States looking for better fights and payoffs. Núñez moved to Irvington, New Jersey, which is known for having a large group of Dominican residents. Unfortunately, for her debut in America, Núñez was defeated by Roselin Morales in a fight that lasted four rounds and ended in a split decision. On December 4, 2003, Núñez recovered her loss by knocking out Shadina Pennybaker in the same city.
Throughout her career, Núñez has a record of 9 wins, 4 via knockout, and 5 losses.
