Even in the amateurs Kentikian has earned a reputation for her aggressive style, which led to the nickname “Killer Queen.”

After a successful amateur career with a record of 24 wins and 1 loss, Kentikian turned pro by signing up with Spotlight Boxing, which was based in Hamburg and started training with Magomed Schaburow. She started her professional career on January 15, 2005 winning by unanimous decision over Bulgarian boxer Iliana Boneva. Kentikian won her latest title, the WBO Flyweight title on October 10, 2009. She is the current WBA, WBO and WIBF flyweight champion.
