This Flipino boxer was born on January 20, 1988, in Viga, Catanduanes, Philippines and currently holds the WBC International Featherweight Crown. He started training at a young age and turned professional when he reached 16. By 2005 he was considered one of the most promising boxers in the Philippines. He won his first title by KO in China, following this up with matches in the US at the age of 17. It was during his first professional fight, at the age of 17 that Concepcion gained his first KO and floored his opponent in the early rounds of the fight. One year later, he won the WBC Super Youth Bantamweight title by scoring a unanimous decision win over his then undefeated opponent Joksan “El Torito” Hernandez. It was after this win that he was signed by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.
His first world title shot came in 2009 when he was slated to fight Steven Luevano. However, his opponent withdrew at the last minute due to an injury, and Concepcion faced Columbian boxer Yogli Herrera instead, winning the bout by decision after 6 rounds. He unfortunately lost his title match against Luevano by disqualification. On February 10, 2010, Concepcion faced off with Puerto Rican boxer Mario “Principe Ponce” Santiago at the Las Vegas Hilton, wining the bout after ten rounds by unanimous decision.
