Luke Campbell is a retired professional boxer from England. He was active from 2013 to 2021. He is a gold medal winner for the 2008 European Championships and he won the gold at the London 2012 Olympics for the bantamweight division.

He is married to Lynsey Kraanen. His grandfather was an Irish boxer. He participated in ITV’s Dancing On Ice and was paired with Jenna Smith.

Career

When he was an amateur, he won titles in the Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABA). He held the bantamweight title from 2007 to 2008. In 2008, he represented England at the 2008 European Amateur Boxing Championships which were held in Liverpool. He went home with the gold.

A couple of years later, he won the silver medal at the 2011 World Championships. This year, he also qualified to play at the 2012 London Olympics where he won the gold for the Bantamweight division.

He turned pro in 2013, making his first professional appearance in July of that year in a fight against Andy Harris. Some of his more notable opponents in his career include Derry Matthews and Jairo Lopez. He has also gone up against Darleys Perez. The win against Perez gave Campbell the chance to go up against and challenge Jorge Linares. He lost to Linares. After the fight, it was revealed that Campbell’s father had died two weeks before.

He also went up against Adrian Yung and Vasiiliy Lomachenko. In 2021, he went up against Ryan Garcia. It would be his final professional fight. In July of that year, he announced that he was retiring from professional boxing.
