Forward – a position played by an offensive player along the sides of the basket, typically near the key area and out toward the sideline and the baseline. In basketball, there is a player assigned as a small forward and another one as the power forward. The small forward is considered as the most versatile player on the court. He is tasked to aggressively attempt lay-ups, post-up plays and slam dunks as well as be good long-range shooters, defensive specialists and excellent passing skills. The power forward on the other hand is considered the second strongest and biggest player in the team. His major role is to set good screens and defensive rebounding.
