Point guard

Point guard – a position of the offensive team usually played by a guard. He is designated to bring the ball up the court and initiates the offensive move of his team. The point guard of a team is usually the best passer and ball handler. In basketball, this player is usually known as, “the coach on the floor” because he needs to know how to control the pace, run the offense and distribute the ball. In the NBA, John Stockton, Bob Cousy and Magic Johnson are considered some of the best pure point guards in history.
