In 1955, the NBA championship was won by the Nationals with Dolph Schayes as the skipper.

In the Eastern Conference finals, the Celtics were pushed to seven games by the 76ers. In the seventh game, the 76ers went down to the Celtics.

In the 1966-67 season, they had a dream start with a record of 46-4. At the end of the season, they finished with a 68-13 record, which at that time was the best record in league history. The Sixers had reached the Eastern Conference finals. This time, they beat the Celtics in 5 games.

In the 1982-83 season, the Sixers once again played a dominant role in the playoffs. They won 65 games in the regular season which is still the second-most-winning year in franchise history

In the 2007-08 season, the Sixers managed to win only 40 games but still made their way to the playoffs. They lost in the first round itself to the Detroit Pistons.

In 2021, they won the Atlantic Division title during a strong period led by Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons but the side continually fell short in the postseason. Doc Rivers was sacked in 2023, and was replaced by ex-Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse.
