Marcedes Marie Walker was born on October 17, 1986. She is the daughter of Marcella Walker. She has one brother and two sisters.
Marcedes played for University City High, and earned McDonald’s Honorable Mention All-America honors. She was her team’s leading scorer and rebounder for three years, and was named to All-City team three times. Marcedes was also a shotputter for the track and field team, and was a member of the volleyball team.
Marcedes attended the University of Pittsburgh. She played for the Panthers under coach Agnus Berenato.
In her freshman season (2004-2005) she was named to the All-Big East Rookie Team. In her sophomore season she was named an All-Big East First Team selection after finishing in the top 10 in scoring, rebounding and field-goal percentage. In her junior season she was named to the Kodak/WBCA District I All-America team - first Pitt player in 16 years to be so honored.
Marcedes was not chosen in the 2008 WNBA draft. Rather, she was signed to a training camp contract with the Houston Comets immediately following the draft. She earned an official spot and signed as a free agent, however she was waived on June 15, 2008.
