Desmond Tremaine Mason is a professional basketball player from the United States of America who plays as a shooting guard or a small forward as per the demands of the team and the situation. Mason attended the Oklahoma State University and graduated in 2000. He was picked at 17th overall, by the Seattle Supersonics in the NBA Draft.

In his rookie campaign, Mason was included in the Slam Dunk Championships during the All-Star Weekend and ended up winning the contest to become the first Sonics player to do so. He stayed with the Sonics for another season before being traded out to the Milwaukee Bucks along with Gary Payton, in exchange for Ray Allen and Ronald Murray. After spending a couple of years at the Bucks, Mason was again on the move, this time to the New Jersey/Oklahoma City Hornets. Jamaal Magloire went the other way.

After a two-season stint away from the Bucks, Mason finally signed up with the Milwaukee-based franchise after stating that he was not happy with the initial trade that had sent him away from the team. Despite expressing his delight at being back with the team, Mason was soon on the trade list as he moved to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the new Seattle Supersonics franchisee.

Mason has recorded a hip-hop song called “We Dem Hornets” in which he listed all the 2006-07 Hornets players.
