Dimitris Diamantidis is a versatile basketball player who can play in 4 positions – small forward, point forward, shooting guard and point guard. He has a height of 6 feet 6 inches and weight of 220 lbs. Considering his height, he has a big wingspan and hence is called as Octopus Man. In 2007, he was named as Mister Europa European Player of the Year. He is regarded as one of the best perimeter defensive players in the Euroleague.

Diamantidis plays for the Greece national basketball team. In the European Championship in 2005, he led the tournament in assists and was chosen to the all tournament team. During the semi finals against France, when Greece was trailing by 66-64, he hit a game winning 3 point shot and Greece won by 67-66 and entered the final. During the semi finals against Team USA in the 2006 FIBA World Championship, when Greece won by 101-95, Diamantidis was a key defensive factor. Diamantidis has played for the Greece national basketball team in the 2004 Olympics as well as 2008 Olympics.

Career Highlights

Diamantidis won the Gold Medal for Greece in the 2005 Serbia and Montenegro European Championships. He won the Silver Medal in the 2006 Japan FIBA World Championships.
