Nikita Morgunov is a member of the Russian national basketball team. In the past, he has played for several teams like – from 1995 to 1997 and 2000 to 2002 for CSKA Moscow, from 1997 to 1999 for Atletas Kaunas, in 2002 for Avtodor Saratov, from 2002 to 2003 for Dynamo Moscow, from 2004 to 2007 for Dinamo Moscow Region and during 2007-08 season for Khimki BC. During 2003-04, he has also played for Makedonikos Kozani in Greece. Although he has not participated in any regular season NBA games, for 3 separate periods, he has been under contract with Portland Trail Blazers, an NBA team. These periods are as follows – 26th January to 24th April 1999, 7th October to 14th April 2000 and 11th October to 28th October 2000.

Nikita Morgunov has won the Gold Medal for Russia in the 2007 Spain European Championships. He has also won the Silver Medal for Russia in the 1998 Athens World Championships.
