Ben Melmeth has played for several teams during his career. He has been a member of Newcastle Falcons in the 1996-97 and 1998-99 seasons, Sydney Kings in the 1999-2000 and 2002-03 seasons, NZ Breakers in the 2003-04 season, Hunter Pirates in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, Singapore Slingers in the 2006-07 season and Gold Coast Blaze from the 2007-08 season till date.

Ben Melmeth is 2.08 meters tall and weighs 110 kg. On the court, he plays in the position of Center. In the 2004-05 season, he attained 9th rank in NBL for offensive rebounds. He was the co-captain of the Pirates in the 2004-05 season and had an average of 13 points per game and ranked 2nd in the team for rebounds which were 8.9 per game. During the 2001-02 season, he was 2nd overall in NBL rebounding. He was selected in the All-NBL First Team in 1997-98 and All-NBL Third Team in 1998-99. Melmeth was honored as NBL Most Improved Player in 1997-98. He won a Gold Medal with Australia at the Under 23 World Championships in 1997.
