Viktor Khryapa won the Gold medal in the 2007 European Championship when he was a member of the Russian national team. During the 1999-2000 season, he was a member of Khimko Engels and from 2000 to 2002 he played for Avtodor Saratov. He signed a deal with PBC CSKA Moscow in 2002 and he was with this team till 2004. While he was with this team, he won the Russian Championships in 2003 and 2004.
During the 2004 NBA draft, he was selected by New Jersey Nets in the NBA. He was the 22nd overall pick. Further, he was traded to Portland Trail Blazers. On 28th June 2007, Tyrus Thomas and Khryapa were traded to Chicago Bulls in exchange of LaMarcus Aldridge.
On 12th February 2008, Khryapa signed a 4.5 years contract with PBC CSKA Moscow. Along with this team, he won the 2008 Russian Championship as well as the 2007-08 Euroleague.

In the NBA, Viktor Khryapa was a member of Portland Trail Blazers from 2004 to 2006 and of Chicago Bulls from 2006 to 2008. He appeared in 143 games wherein he received 2351 playing minutes.
