Union Olimpija is a top basketball club in the Slovenian League. Erazem Lorbek attended the youth program of this club and played for this club from 1999 to 2002. During the 2002-03 season, he was a freshman for the Spartans in Michigan State University in the United States. Here, he averaged 3.3 rebounds and 6.4 points per game. Then, he returned to Europe and from 2003 to 2006, he played with Fortitudo Bologna of the Italian League. He was a winner of the Euroleague 2004-05 Rising Star Award.
During the 2004 NBA draft, he withdrew his name from consideration. He was selected by Indiana Pacers in the 2nd round of the 2005 NBA draft. However, the Pacers permitted him to enhance his game in Europe.
During the 2006-07 season, he played for Unicaja Malaga, the Spanish league club. Then, he shifted to Benetton Treviso, an Italian league club. For the 2007-08 season, he made a deal with Lottomatica Roma, which was associated with the Italian League. Along with this league, he became one of the best power forwards of the Euroleague. He became a part of CSKA Moscow, which is a Russian League Club, in the 2008-09 season.
Erazem Lorbek has won several awards like FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship MVP 2004 and FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship MVP 2003.
