High School and College Career

He attended Ballard High School. While there, he received a number of accolades including being named 1989 Kentucky Mr. Basketball. He also received All-American honors from both Parade and McDonald’s. I

For college, he declared to play for the University of Tennessee. There, he was named the SEC Tournament MVP in 1991 and was named to the 1990 SEC All-Freshman Team.

Professional Career

Houston joined the NBA in 1993 and was the 11th overall pick of the draft, chosen by the Detroit Pistons in the first round. He played for the Pistons from 1993 to 1996.

In 1996, he signed with the New York Knicks. While with the Knicks, he was named an NBA All-Star in 2000 and again in 2001. He continued to play for the team until he retired in 2005.
