Mike Mitchell was a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association and internationally in Italy and Israel. In 1981, he was named an NBA All-Star, while under the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was also the 1998 Italian League Top Scorer.

From 1974 to 1978, he played collegiate basketball for Auburn University. While there, he was named to the second-team All-SEC in 1976 and 1977. When he retired, the Auburn Tigers also retired his jersey number in his honor.
Professional Career
Mitchell joined the NBA in 1978 and was the 15th overall pick of the draft, chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for Cleveland until 1981. In that year, he was named an NBA All-Star. He played for the San Antonio Spurs from 1981 to 1987.
In 1988, he played in Italy for Filodoro Brescia. In 1990, he started playing for Filodoro Napoli. He then spent the 1991-1992 season in Israel playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv. From 1992-1999, he played for Reggio Emilia. At that time, he was named the 1998 Italian League Top Scorer.
