Jerryd Bayless is an American national who plays professional basketball as a point guard. Bayless was a student at the St. Mary’s High School where he played basketball for the school team. He then went on to attend the University of Arizona where he played for just one season. In high school, Bayless was named to the Arizona Republic All-Arizona team in all four years of his high school career.

In his freshman season, he scored at 19.7 points per game and had 2.7 rebounds per game with 4.0 assists. He helped his team get a 19-13 win-loss record and an 8-10 record in the Pac-10 conference. This also included a first round exit from the NCAA tournament at the hands of the West Virginia Mountaineers.

In a surprise move, Bayless decided to declare for the 2008 NBA Draft and the Portland Trailblazers picked him at 11th overall. Bayless was brought in mainly for his athletic and scoring ability. In July of 2008, he was named to the USA Select Team and at the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, he won the Most Valuable Player award by scoring at a league-leading 29.8 points per game.

In the regular season (2008-09), Bayless has scored at 4.3 points per game in around 12.4 minutes of playing time in 53 games.

Bayless has been a part of the 2006 USA Men’s U-18 National Team which won a bronze medal at the FIBA World Championships.
