He committed to play college basketball for the University of Michigan and played with the team from 2012 to 2014. While there, he was named the 2014 Big Ten Player of the Year. He was also named a Consensus Second Team All-American.
He played for Canada in the 2015 AmeriCup. The team took home the Bronze.
Professional Career
He declared for the NBA in 2014 and joined the NBA Draft that year. He was picked 8th overall by the Sacramento Kings. He played for the team in the NBA Summer League. They signed him to a rookie contract in 2014.
In 2015, the Kings traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers. He stayed with the team through to December 2017 when he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. In July 2018, he signed with the Portland Trail Blazers. Less than a year later, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. After a few more trades, he signed with the Cavaliers in February 2019.
In August 2019, he signed a one-year deal with Basokonia in the Spanish Euroleague. In December 2020, he was signed to join the Milwaukee Bucks training camp. They waived him soon after. In 2021, he was added to the roster of the Raptors 905. A few months later, he joined the Grand Rapids Gold.
In December 2021, he signed a 10-day contract with the Miami Heat. He late returned to play for Grand Rapids. He signed with the Boston Celtics in 2022 but was later traded to the Indiana Pacers who waived him in July.
