Jon Barry did his schooling from the De La Salle Catholic High School in Concord, California. He later attended college at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia where he played for the college basketball team called the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. In 1992, Barry was drafted by the Boston Celtics who immediately let him go to the Milwaukee Bucks. After playing with the Bucks for 3 seasons, Barry was traded to the Golden State Warriors in 1996. The Warriors traded him to the Atlanta Hawks in 1997 who traded him the following season to the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1999, the Sacramento Kings acquired Barry from the Lakers. In 2002, Barry was exchanged to the Detroit Pistons with whom he played for 2 seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2004. In 2005, the Atlanta Hawks bought Barry from the Nuggets and traded him to the Houston Rockets the same season. He played with the rockets till the end of the 2005-06 season after which he retired. After retirement Barry serves as a T.V. analyst with ESPN and ABC.
