College Career
He played collegiate basketball for the University of California, Los Angeles. He is known for being a great defender and was referred to as a “little Tasmanian Devil” by coach Dieter Horton.
He played three seasons with the Bruins before he eventually decided to declare for the NBA. While with UCLA, he was named to the 2018 PAC-12 All-Defensive Team. He was also named to the First-team All-Pac-12.
NBA
He was drafted into the NBA by the Indiana Pacers. He was their 23rd overall pick in the first round. He signed a three-year contract with the team. He stayed with them through to the 2021 season. He was later traded to the Washington Wizards in 2021 in a five-team deal.
The following year, in February 2022, he was traded by the Wizards to the Phoenix Suns.
