He was recruited to play college basketball by the Indiana University Bloomington. While in college, he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team in 2016. He was also named to that year’s Third-team All-Big Ten.

He declared for the NBA in 2017 and he was drafted in the 2nd Round by the Utah Jazz. He was their 42nd pick. They later traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Tony Bradley. He was later assigned to play for the South Bay Lakers. In 2018, he was named to the NBA G League All-Rookie Team and the First-team All-NBA G League team.

In 2018, the Washington Wizards claimed him off waivers. He tested positive for COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021, he suffered a partially torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament on his left knee.
