High School and College Career
He attended the Cardinal Newman Hugh School in Florida. He signed to play college basketball for Wake Forest University. He spent two years with Wake Forest and while there, he was named to the First-team All-ACC in 2017.
After his sophomore season, he declared for the NBA.
NBA Career
The Atlanta Hawks drafted Collins into the NBA in 2017. He was their 19th overall pick in the first round. He played with the Hawks for that year’s summer league. He was named to the All-Summer League first team that year.
He later debuted in the NBA for the 2017-2018 season. He scored his first double-double in October 2017. In 2018, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
In 2021, the Hawks signed him to a five-year contract that was reportedly worth US$125 million.
