James Ennis III is a professional basketball player who recently played for the Denver Nuggets and has since joined Hapoel Haifa in Israel. Ennis was born and raised in Ventura, California, in a small housing project together with his parents and siblings. Growing up, Ennis and his siblings used to play basketball, skateboard, and soccer.

Early Childhood and High School Life

Ennis grew up in a big household. When he was young, his family kept on moving from one place to another, that’s why he attended different high schools during his freshman year. In 2009, his family decided to settle in Ventura, and Ennis and his siblings continued their education at Ventura High School.

Pre-NBA Career

When he was in college, he decided to commit to Oxnard College, where he played basketball. As a freshman, he recorded an average of 19.0 points per game with 7.7 rebounds. However, he went back to Ventura to play. In 2011, he was included in the first-team All-California Community College Athletic Association after he set a career-high record of 20.3 points with 7.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists.

During his junior year, he joined the California State University and became one of the All-Big West Conference honors with a record of 10.0 with 2.6 assists. Because he was a reliable player to his colleagues, he became a go-to player in 2012-13. Eventually, he was hailed the Big West Player of the Year for the end-season.

NBA Draft and Current Team

In June 2013, he joined the 2013 NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Atlanta Hawks. However, his right was traded to the Miami Heat, so he later joined the Hear during the 2013 NBA Summer League. He was supposed to sign a contract with the Heat, however, he was not able to pass through the minimum salary of $490,180 to join its NBA G League affiliate.

Currently, Ennis joined a 10-day contract with the Nuggets where he played the position of the small forward.
