Rafer Alston went to the Cardozo High School in Queens, New York City. He later joined the California State University in Fresno, California. After a brief session playing with the Idaho Stampede of the Continental Basketball Association, in 1998, Alston was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks but continued playing at street basketball competitions like the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic and the Mixtape Tour and remained to be on the bench with the Bucks most of the while. Alston played with the Mobile Revelers for a year in the NBA Development League. The Revelers are not a defunct team. In 2004, Alston was drafted by the Miami Heat and was signed by the Toronto Raptors the same summer. After playing with the Raptors for a year, Alston was traded to the Houston Rockets in 2005.
