Jonathan Judah Isaac is a professional basketball player who is playing for the Orlando Magic as the team’s power forward and small forward. Isaac was born in The Bronx, New York, however, he was raised in Naples, Florida, where he attended Barron Collier High School during the first two years of his high school. During his junior year, he transferred to the International School of Broward and IMG Academy to strengthen his basketball abilities.
High School and College Life
Upon attending the IMG Academy, he posted 17.6 points with 10.0 rebounds per game. As a major contributor to the team, he was one of the players being chosen to play for the Jordan Brand Classic and Nike Hoop Summit All-Star games. He was also rated as a 5-star recruit and confirmed that he will be attending Florida State after high school.
In 2016, he declared his intention to try out for the 2016 NBA Draft as the first American to jump directly to NBA without the need to attend college. 4 days later, he announced that he will be playing for the Florida State instead of joining the NBA Draft.
In June 2017, Isaac was the 6th overall selected by the Orlando Magic, and he was assigned to its NBA G League affiliate after he incurred a right ankle sprain injury. In 2018, he became a starter for the team in 66 games. By the following year, he recorded 13 rebounds when they were matched against the Indiana Pacers, which they have successfully won. His career-high record was against the New Orleans Pelicans, as he contributed 20 points.
In January 2020, Isaac suffered another injury during their match against the Washington Wizards, and he was a sideline for 10 weeks. In August 2020, he missed the remaining games of the 2019-20 season due to a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.
