Jock Landale is an Australian NBA player who is currently playing for the Phoenix Suns. Landale was born and raised in Australia. He joined the basketball team of the Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, and because of his basketball profile and height, it easily helped him secure a scholarship to study at Saint Mary’s College.

Life Before NBA

After securing a scholarship, Landale moved to the US and studied at Saint Mary’s College. As a freshman and a newbie in the country, he started as a bench player. However, he performed great and his role as the team’s center player improved when he was a sophomore. Landale is considered a dominant player. Standing in 6’11”, he could easily play both defensive and offensive roles.

As a college player, he received many awards, such as being included in the first-team WCC All-West Coast Conference and being hailed as WCC Payer of the Year and NBC Sports Player of the Week. During their match against Gonzaga, he contributed 24 points with 12 rebounds, while a spectacular 32 points against the Pacific.

ABA and NBA Career and Going Back to Australia

Unfortunately, Landale went undrafted during the 2018 NBA Draft, but he later signed with the Atlanta Hawks for the summer league. After the summer league, he went to Serbia to sign a two-year contract with the KK Partizans. For his 1-year stay with the team, he was included in the 2018-19 ABA League Ideal Starting Five.

After he finished off his contract with the Partizans, he moved to Žalgiris Kaunas. They also have a program where he had to earn $100.00 for every successful 3-pointer shot, which will be donated to the victims of the Australian bushfires.

At the end of 2020, he decided to sign with Melbourne United for a year and led the team to play against the Perth Wildcats during the 2021 NBL Grand Finals. They successfully won the finals, while Landale won the NBL Grand Final MVP. In 2021, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs.

In July 2022, he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks as part of the deal that aw Dejounte Murray go to the Hawks, and a week later he was traded to the Suns.
