High School and College Career

Danuel attended Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas. When he was a senior, he was one of the finalists for the Guy V Lewis Award. He was recruited by some different colleges including Georgetown, Kansas, Baylor, and Ohio State. He decided to sign up with the University of Houston.

He stayed with Houston from 2012 to 2014. In his freshman year, he was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year. Despite his success with the team, he left in 2014, citing personal reasons. In his junior and senior years, he played for Texas A&M.


Danuel declared for the NBA for the 2016 Draft. He went undrafted and later signed with the Washington Wizards, joining them for the 2016 Summer League. In November 2016, he made his NBA debut in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He suffered an injury and was later waived by the wizards.

In 2017, he signed with the Houston Rockets and he was designated to play with their G League team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In the same year, he transferred to play for the Phoenix Suns and the Northern Arizona Suns.

In 2018, it was announced that Danuel would again be playing for the Vipers. He was called up to play for the Houston Rockets in November 2018. He was later waived and then signed a two-way contract with the Rockets. In March 2019, his contract was converted to a standard NBA contract.

In 2020, he violated the NBA’s COVID-19 Protocols and was kicked out of the bubble. He was sent home and did not play any more games for the 2018-2020 season.
