RJ Nembhard is an American professional basketball player in the NBA. As of 2021, he plays point guard and shooting guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers. RJ stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and his weight is listed at 200 lbs. He wears jersey No.22 when playing for the Cavaliers. He attended Keller High School and then went on to attend the Texas Christian University where he played for the TCU Horned Frogs from 2017 to 2021. In 2021, he was named to the Third-team All-Big 12. He declared for the NBA in 2021 but went undrafted during the NBA Draft. He was later signed by the Cavaliers.

Nembhard was born Reuben R Nembhard, Jr. but he goes by his nickname RJ. He grew up with a love for football. He did not play basketball until he was 10 years old. Nembhard played for his High School team while he attended Keller High School in Keller, Texas. While there, he averaged 21 points per game in his junior year. This led him to be named District 5-6A’s MVP. During his senior year, he was named by Star Telegram as their Super Team Player of the Year after he averaged 25.7 points scored with 6.5 rebounds per game.

By the time he was recruited to a college, he was ranked as a four-star recruit. Colleges that offered him scholarships included the University of Texas, Baylor University in Waco, Kansa State University, and the University of Oklahoma. He committed to play for the Texas Christian University. He was redshirted in his freshman year at TCU and received only a limited playing time because of a knee injury. In January 2020, he played in a game against Iowa State where he scored a then career high of 31 points. For his sophomore year at TCU, he averaged 12.1 points per game. As a junior, he averaged 15.7 points. This led him to be named to be given Third-Team All-Big 12 honors. He declared for the 2021 NBA draft but he maintained his college eligibility.

He went on undrafted during the 2021 NBA draft, but he later joined the Miami heat for the NBA Summer League. In September 2021, he was signed on by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
