Furkan Korkmaz is a Turkish NBA player for the Philadelphia 76ers. Korkmaz was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and he started playing basketball when he was 9 years old. Due to his fondness for the sport, he played for Yeşilyurt Spor Kulübü at age 15. Korkmaz is well-noted for his 6’7” height, that’s why he played the shooting guard and small forward positions.

He became a professional basketball player when he temporarily played for the 2013–14 team Pertevniyal. Then, in the summer of 2014, he was transferred to the Anadolu Efest first team, which made him earned a contract of $2 million. Moving forward, Korkmaz became one of the international players to join the 2016 NBA Draft. Eventually, he was selected as the 26th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. After he was drafted to the 76ers, he decided to make a comeback to Anadolu Efes for their last season.

In 2017, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he was assigned to play for the NBA G League. During the 2018 NBA Summer League, he made a career-high score of 40 points, yet they lost to the Boston Celtics. In 2018, they crushed the Detroit Pistons as he assisted and gained 31 points.

Before heading off to the NBA, he became a member of the Turkish National Basketball team at the 2016 Manila FIBA World and EuroBasket 2017. During the 2017 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, he recorded an average of 12.8 points with 2.6 steals and 4.6 rebounds.

During the under-20 tournament in 2017, he also scored 35.6 overall with 27.6 3-point shooting range, and 02. block game. Korkaz also played for the national team at the EuroBasket 2015, EuroBasket 2017, and 2016 Manila FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

In 2019, he continued to play the small forward and shooting guard for the 76ers as he signed a two-year contract. In February 2020, he recorded a career-high 34 points against the Memphis Grizzlies and a significant 31 points against the Chicago Bulls. In the 2020-21 season, he scored 9.1 points per game with 37.5% three-point shooting. He also replaced the injured Danny Green during the semi-finals against the Atlanta Hawks. In August 2021, he re-signed a 3-year contract extension with the 76ers.
