Malik Ahmad Monk is a professional basketball player who plays for the Sacramento Kings. Malik started playing basketball for his school, East Poinsett County High School. As a freshman, he made a significant score of 22.8 points with 2.7 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game. He was soon transferred to Bentonville High School, where he had scored 26.6 points per game in his junior year.

In 2015, Monk also competed for the Amateur Athletic Union team for the Nike Elite Youth Basketball Circuit and the 2015 Nike Global Challenge. In his senior year, he had a record of 28.6 points with 7.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists. During his last year in high school, he only scored 19 points, which caused a major loss to Cabot High School. By the end of his high school, he was ranked as the No. 9 overall player and Top 1 Shooting guard.

Monk attended the University of Kentucky when he got into college with a remarkable record of 47 points during his freshman year. Because of his significant contribution to the university, he announced that he would enter the 2017 NBA draft.

In 2017, he was selected by the Charlotte Hornets during the NBA Draft, then he signed with the Hornets with a scale contract of $15,726,047. During his rookie season, he was supposed to play for the 2017 NBA Summer League, however, he suffered an injury on the ankle. He was also assigned to play with the Greensboro Swarm for a game, where he accumulated a score of 25 points, 4 assists, and 8 rebounds.

Unfortunately, in 2020, he was found using illegal substances, so NBA decided to suspend him for violating the NBA’s substance use policy. His suspension was lifted on June 8 when he successfully complied with the anti-drug program.

In 2021, Monk has made another life-changing decision, as he decided to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. In July 2022, he joined the Kings on a two-year $19m contract.
