*Plenette Michelle Pierson’ was born August 31, 1981 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Paulette Pierson. She has a younger brother, Cleven.High SchoolPlenette attended Kingwood High School and graduated in 1999. Her high school coach was Angela Gober.*College’Plenette attended Texas Tech, where she majored in Communication Studies.

She started all 33 games as a freshman, averaging 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds, and was named Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year.

As a sophomore, she played in all 32 games with 31 starts, and named second-team All-Big 12 along with a host of other accolades.

As a junior, she played in only four games before being suspended for the rest of the year for conduct detrimental to the team.

As a senior, she averaged 17.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, and was named to the All-Big 12 First team.

WNBAPlenette was selected the #4 pick by the Phoenix Mercury in the first round of the 2003 WNBA Draft. She was traded to the Detroit Shock in exchange for Andrea Stinson and the Shock’s 2006 second round draft pick on June 29, 2005.
