Ebony Vernice Hoffman was born on August 27, 1982 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Floyd and Marsha Hoffman. She has one sister, Erika, and one brother, Elliot. She is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA.
Ebony attended Narbonne High School. Over her four-year prep career, she averaged 15.0 rpg and over 17.0 ppg, shot 52.0 percent from the floor, 47.0 percent from behind the arc and 79.0 percent at the charity stripe.
Ebony set school records with 2,118 career points, 496 blocks and 1,851 rebounds. During her high-school career she also played volleyball, earning all-city and all-league notoriety, along with the league MVP title as a junior. She was also a six-year member of the Olympic Girls Development Traveling Team. After her graduation from USC 2000-2004, majoring in international relations. She played basketball for the USC Trojans.
During her senior year (2003-2004) she played in all 28 games, starting 27, and led USC in scoring and rebounding. Ebony finished third in the Pac-10 in rebounding, seventh in scoring and sixth in steals. In 2004-05, Ebony was a first-round draft pick of the Chicago Blaze. She was even a NWBL All-Star.
