NBA pre-season should start on October 19, however, more NBA players have come unvaccinated due to either personal or religious beliefs.
If more NBA Players refused to get vaccinated, then sabotaging the 2021-22 season is highly possible, especially that the NBA is following mandatory implementation of vaccines between players.
One of the biggest stars in the NBA, LeBron James, is already vaccinated. However, he said in an interview that it’s not his responsibility to urge NBA players to do the same because they have the freedom to choose what’s right for them.
Bradley Beal, the shooting guard of the Washington Wizards, is still unvaccinated because of personal reasons. This means he will be missing games in the next season despite being signed to a $71 million contract until 2023. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets refused to disclose the information if he was vaccinated or not. If proven he was unvaccinated, he would not be able to attend practice in their home cities.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had called this madness. For him, there should be no room for players who would compromise the team’s health and risk their lives. All NBA players should be aware of the seriousness of the situation.
He also added that since NBA had implemented mandatory vaccination among players, all of those players who refused should be removed from the team. As of now, the NBAs unvaccinated rate climbs to 10%, while WNBA had a 99% vaccination rate.
