NBA Power Rankings: Who Are At The Top?

NBA Power Rankings: Who Are At The Top? Photo: TT

After the frenzy during free agency season, many power players have seen movement to other teams. In particular, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have teamed up in Brooklyn, while Jimmy Butler has taken his talents to South Beach. Apart from that, Tobias Harris has signed with Philly, and D’Angelo Russell have gone off to join the Splash Brothers.

Overnight, it seems like the cards have been shuffled, and has caused a reevaluation of the league’s rankings.

The rankings are mostly based on gathered data, as well as voting, and are not to be considered as concrete. Still, here are the rankings as follows:

Milwaukee Bucks

Although the Eastern Conference has experienced quite a change among its teams, the Bucks have managed to retain its core. They have re-signed its starters Brook Lopez and Khris Middleton, and have kept George Hill who is one of their key reserves. Apart from this, they also have a strong bench that can provide support to Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Denver Nuggets

While the rest of the world was on a Kawhi Watch and a Kevin Durant watch, the Nuggets played their hand quietly, and was able to enjoy one of the best summers in the league. They were able to add Jerami Grant, as well as Michael Porter Jr. to their roster without having any issues. With fresh new talent of rising stars, the Nuggets are quite a favorite now in the West.

LA Clippers

The Clippers spent a year quietly wooing Kawhi Leonard, and as a result, they were able to add The Klaw into their roster. The Lakers definitely did not see that coming. The rest of the NBA league was equally surprised. However, the Clippers did manage to persuade Leonard at the same time work out a deal for Paul George. With the two, Leonard and George should be able to adapt easily into the team, putting the franchise up into instant title contender capacity.

Philadelphia 76ers

After coming in close to defeating the Raptors, the 76ers are a team to look out for especially with their dramatic moves this summer. They were able to re-sign Tobias Harris, and acquire Josh Richardson in exchange for Jimmy Butler. Now with Leonard away from Toronto, the 76ers have become a favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference.

These are just a few of the top bets for the new NBA season. While many teams are still adjusting, it should mark a start of a new era where the older, more seasoned teams are now learning to come up with new strategies to become top contenders again.
