Sacrifice Fly

Sacrifice Fly A player scores a run from a sac fly during the sixth inning

The “sacrifice fly” or “sac fly” happens when a runner is able to score from a batter that hits a fly-ball out to the outfield or foul territory. More than one runner can score on the play in a “sacrifice fly”.

There are also many cases of scoring from the second or even the first base, but the runner usually scores from the third base.
