From the Dominican Republic comes Esmil Rogers, a professional baseball player who plays as a pitcher. Rogers began his MLB career at the Colorado Rockies in 2006, playing at their minor league affiliates, the Casper Rockies in the Pioneer League. With a 3-6 record and an ERA of 6.96, he moved up to the Asheville Tourists in 2007 in the A-League.
With the Tourists, Rogers improved considerably, finishing the season with a 3.75 ERA and a 7-4 win-loss record. He naturally progressed into the Advanced A-League with the Modesto Nuts where he established a 9-7 record at an ERA of 3.95. He started all 25 games for the Nuts and pitched in 143.2 innings. That got him into the 2009 40-man roster for the Colorado Rockies where he remains on the bench as a backup.
