CollegeAlthough Sean was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 32nd round (959th overall) of the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft, he decided to attend the University of Louisville instead, and plsayed there from 1998 to 2000.
Minor LeaguesSean was drafted in the 12th round of the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft by the Colorado Rockies, after his junior season at Louisville.
He made his way through the Rockies’ minor league system until 2004, when he was traded to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher aaron Taylor.
Major LeaguesSean was called up to the majors on April 29, 2006, replacing injured reliever Julio Mateo. He made his major league debut on May 2, 2006, against the Twins. When Mateo was activated on May 20, Sean remained on the team.
