Major LeaguesAlthough compiling 3 losses in his brief stint with Pawtucket, Michael’s pitching impressed so much that on August 29, 2008, he was called up by the Red Sox, and won his Major League debut on August 30 against the Chicago White Sox, 8-2, pitching five effective innings.

On August 31, 2008, Michael was sent back to Pawtucket to get more experience in a relief role. He will be brought back up to the majors in some capacity during September as the Red Sox make their bid for a playoff berth.
