Minor LeaguesAt 16 years old, Carlos signed with the Mets as an international free agent on July 27, 2002. He made his way through the Mets’ farm system.
Carlos started the 2007 season with the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs. Playing and hitting very well, he was brought up to the majors and made his debut on May 13, 2007. He was the youngest player in the National League at the time of his debut.
Carlos was traded to the Twins as part of the deal that sent pitcher Johan Santan to the Mets.
Carlos made the Twins opening day roster for the 2008 season, and has been a fan favorite ever since.
