Johnathan Richard Buck was born on July 7, 1980 in Kemmerer, Wyoming. He is one of two catchers for the Kansas City Royals.

John is 6’ 3”, weighs 220 pounds, and bats and throws right.

High SchoolJohn went to high school in Taylorsville, Utah.

Minor leaguesJohn was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 7th round of the 1998 Amateur Draft. He signed a minor league contract on June 11, 1998 but struggled on his journey through their farm system.

On June 24, 2004, the Astros traded him as part of a deal to acquire Carlos Beltran, sending Buck to Kansas City.

Major LeaguesThe Royals immediately put John in their starting lineup, replacing injured veteran Benito Santiago.

PersonalJohn and his wife Brooke have twin boys: Cooper and Brody, born in May, 2008.

Buck is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
