Code Violation

In tennis, a Code Violation occurs when a player breaks a rule of conduct during a match. It can include actions such as hitting a ball in anger or using bad language.

The first violation results in a Warning. A second violation costs the player a point. A third violation leads to losing a game. If a player gets a fourth violation, they may forfeit the match.

Code violations are strictly enforced in professional tournaments.

Players can also be fined for these violations. Famous players like John McEnroe and Serena Williams have received code violations in high-profile matches.

These rules help maintain fair play and sportsmanship in tennis.
